Thrivent/Habitat Build

Habitat House Dedicated

September 28, 2009 11:29 am

On September 19 we had the privilege of taking part in the dedication of the Habitat for Humanity house in Fair Play. The family drove in the final nail, and they received the keys to the house. Many members of Zion were present, as well as members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood. While Thrivent Builds money will not be available for next year’s house, the members of Zion look forward to helping Habitat for Humanity in many ways. Glory be to God!

Almost Done…

September 8, 2009 4:32 pm

Work on the Habitat house continues, and it’s almost done.

The dedication has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 19, probably at 2 pm.

If you’re looking to help out, you can still show up this Saturday, the 12th.

Trim Tree Party!

August 31, 2009 10:08 am

The Habitat for Humanity House is nearly done! This Wednesday, September 2, a group will meet at the house for a trim tree party–that is, to paint the all the trim for the house (which is sitting on a special tree that makes painting easy). To help out, meet at Zion at 6 pm, or show up at the house around 6:30 pm.

There is no official work scheduled for this Saturday, but some folks will be working anyway if you want to join them. Otherwise, please join Habitat for Humanity, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Missouri Plains chapter, and the family for the dedication on Saturday, September 12 (time to be announced).

Time to Paint…Almost

August 24, 2009 10:31 am

Work continues on the drywall at the Habitat for Humanity house in Fair Play. If all goes well, the last layer of mud will be on the walls and dry by Tuesday the 25th, and the texture will be on the walls by the end of Wednesday. That means Saturday will be priming day.

We’d love to have you join us, and there’s always something for everyone to do.

Many thanks to the students from SBU who helped out Saturday the 22nd–and to everyone who has put in so much time on this project!

The Work Continues…

August 16, 2009 5:07 pm

Yesterday we started mudding and taping the drywall at the Habitat house. More remains to be done this week. If it’s finished by Saturday, then we’ll turn to texturing and priming the walls.

In addition, we’ll have a crew doing some light landscaping. (Thanks, SBU welcome week students!)

Of course, we can use your help whether you can mud, tape, landscape, paint, or not. We’d be glad to have you join us.

Time for Mudding

August 10, 2009 11:48 am

This past Saturday, volunteers put up all the drywall in the Habitat House, built the deck, and got the porch ready for pouring.

Do you know how to mud and tape? If so, join us Saturday to get it all done.

If all goes well, the house should be finished early in September!

Help Still Needed

August 3, 2009 11:24 am

Our needs this week are the same as last week: help with sheetrock, the back deck, and the front porch. Come even if you don’t know a thing about sheetrock, deck building, or pouring concrete, because we can always use extra hands!

Outfitting the Inside

July 26, 2009 2:16 pm

The work on the Habitat House in Fair Play is going well. Next Saturday, August 1, the crew will finish hanging drywall, build the back deck, and put up forms for the front porch. Volunteers are always welcome, and you don’t need any special skills to help. For more information contact Zion Lutheran at (417) 326-5506.

Helpers Needed!

July 8, 2009 12:16 pm

After a much-deserved holiday, work resumes this Sautrday at the HFH home in Fair Play. This Saturday, your help is needed several areas as we prepare to move toward inside work. If you don’t have construction skills, no problem! We need volunteers to cut & carry & clean up-in short, WE NEED HELPERS!

Week of June 22
