At Zion Christian Preschool, we believe children learn best in a loving, fun, hands-on, Christ-centered environment. We nurture the whole child spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and academically. Quality early experiences foster the natural love and curiosity for learning in young children.
Our teaching emphasizes kindness, manners, respect, and compassion for others. Academics are achieved through both hands-on activities at centers and through the ABeka Christian school curriculum.
Our programs for 3- to 5-year-olds are three days a week, four hours each day which are broken down into five areas:
Bible Story Time – where Bible stories/songs/activities and verses are presented.
Music, Motion, & Movement – where we learn and have fun while singing and dancing, stretching and moving.
Circle Time – where calendar/weather/letter & number of the week/songs/fingerplays/shapes/colors, etc, are discussed.
Center Time – when children move independently around the room to different centers and work on school readiness skills, as well as letter/number of the week.
Teacher Directed – activities one-on-one or with a group. This could be art or academic focused. (i.e. – health, language, math, safety, science, social studies.)
In addition to the above, our 3-year-old program focuses on colors, shapes, number concepts, and phonetic pronunciation and recognition of letters. The 4-year-old program also focuses on phonics and language development and math skills.
Each child develops at their own rate and our low student/teacher ratio (8:1 and 6:1) allows time for independent help when needed.
